Mercury Field and a Mass exodus
Well that was quite a night. There were surely a few very sore heads waking up in the Greater Manchester area this afternoon.
Mercury Field were on fire. A great group of lads with real talent, they deserve to go far. As a venue that usually offers covers, it can be risky to put on a band that primarily plays its own tracks rather than the classics. But these guys don’t disappoint, thoroughly encapsulating their mission to reclaim rock and to make it live, loud and raucous.
Great vocals, nifty bass and some very impressive guitar work, (“one of the best I’ve heard in the Bike” said one customer) their rhythms are strong and punchy, mixing the feel of rock greats with the attitude of punk.
They have two EPs out at the moment, so if you’ve not heard them yet, check them out. They’re on again at the Bike in November.
They provided the perfect backdrop for the final shift of our beloved barman Massimo, who is moving on to bluer pastures. I think he got the send off he deserves. My headache confirms it!
