Bobby Grant’s Partners in Crime
We’ve seen some superb guitarists in the Bike over the years, even just in the last two years we all know the likes of Tony Wood, Steve Kay, Andy Bennett. On the basis of last night, and his other appearances with Snakewater, I think we may be in danger of adding Bobby Grant to that list.
That would seem to be the consensus among the crowd last night, at any rate. Walking the floor I seldom here so many people say “Damn, that guy can play”
Once again, the keyboards provided a nice additional dimension in a place more used to a raft of guitars – and they were superbly played to boot.
The set list was a little slower than one might have expected for a Friday night in a rock pub, but no-one seemed to mind. You’d also not expect to hear Elton John’s Rocket Man either, and I for one didn’t expect it to prove such a hit. One commentator saying “I actually preferred that version to the original”. Hard to argue with that.
Great night, great band.
